The story of the CD

To paraphrase a famous saying, the universe is not only more interesting than we imagine, it is more interesting than we can imagine. In the same way, Eddie Jobson has created new musical universes for each of us. Across the time and space of his four-and-a-half decade musical career, he has taken us to places we never would have imagined and inspired us to explore new realms we may not have found on our own.

On this year of Eddie’s 60th birthday celebration, and the final performance of his legendary prog-rock supergroup, UK, we present to you Theme of Appreciation 4: A Worldwide Tribute to Eddie Jobson, the latest in the series of fan-created expressions of gratitude to our favorite musician from fans all over the world.

For the first time, we have created cover versions of some of Eddie’s landmark songs, arranged chronologically through his musical history, starting a few years into his career with his first solo recordings in 1976 into the influential UK years in the late 70s and into the 1980s with his Zinc/Green Album band project, his Private Music new-age work, and finally, the exciting 21st century supergroup known as UKZ. You won’t find these covers to be carbon copies of the originals, but instead celebrations of this music through our individualized expressions.

The originals part of this album contains new songs by us, Eddie’s fans. In this section, you may hear obvious influences of Eddie’s work, from electric violin lines to electronic soundscapes and in other cases it may be less evident. But in every case, Eddie has left a deep imprint on each of us that moves us every day in our own artistic explorations.
